About Us

The Office of the President Staff (OPS) is a 13-member team that provides support in the accomplishment of the President’s responsibilities.  It helps coordinate the activities of the eight Constituent Universities and facilitates official communications of the UP System to government agencies and other institutions.  Guided by the University’s goals of academic excellence and operational efficiency, the OPS ensures the delivery of quality assistance to UP constituents and the general public.

The President leads the office for a six year term, but the staff is not coterminous.  Of the 13 members, 5 are executive assistants and 8 are administrative personnel.

To effectively assist the UP President in the performance of his tasks and functions in serving the country, the students, the faculty, and the staff of the University.

Na mabisang matulungan ang Pangulo ng UP sa pagganap sa kanyang mga gawain at tungkulin sa pagbibigay serbisyo sa bayan, mga mag-aaral, kaguruan, at mga kawani ng Unibersidad.


Mandates

The Office of the President Staff (OPS) is mandated to provide support for the President’s day-to- day tasks as chief academic officer, head of the University faculty, and chief executive officer of the University.

To fulfill this mandate, the OPS is organized into two groups carrying out these major functions: 1) the Executive Assistants, which (i) provide research and technical support to aid the President’s decision-making on matters brought for the Office’s consideration; and (ii) manage the official issuances, correspondence, and the calendar of appointments of the President; and 2) the Administrative Support group, which handles all matters pertaining to the personnel, budget, accounting of finances, utilities, facilities, and other housekeeping tasks for the Office of the President.

These two groups collaborate in the shared major function of organizing and managing the events, public relations activities, and special projects initiated by the President or the Office. Other system offices may be involved in these activities as needed.
